You’ll find most of our vendors on our Dog Pet Stores We LOVE page, in the sidebar at right. You’ll find suggested pet stores, dog med and even dog health insurance providers.

The point is, we want you to try everything before you settle on giving up on your dog. There’s always hope, in our opinion, to save a dog from a lonely end in the shelter.
There will be at least three authors writing here at Dog Pet Stores.
First off, I’m James, and I’m an avowed lover of dogs. The inside scoop on me: I have had dogs my whole life. One of my first dogs was a Dachshund named “Ben.” I remember vividly the day, when I was three years old, when my mom and dad brought me and my brother to a brick-and-mortar pet store, and they had all sorts of pets for sale. This was in California, back when Luke Skywalker was an idea in George Lucas’s imagination yet. You won’t find those dog pet stores there anymore, with kennels filled with puppies and strays, purebreed and mixed alike, all up for sale and all equipped with their sad, puppy-dog eyes!
I wanted to take every one of those dogs home. I had a hard time deciding which I wanted, and then I found Ben. He was the most incredibly cute puppy in that whole joint. I was hooked. It wasn’t until decades later that I had even heard of the “Puppy Dog Close,” a sales technique named after the tactic these well-trained dog pet store merchants used on little 3-year-olds like me. It worked!
After Ben died, I thought my love for dogs did as well. He took a piece of me with him, I think. I didn’t realize how much of a dog lover I was until later in life, when I could enjoy my dogs through the eyes of my children. It brings back memories of times spent with my late father, from a point in my life when he stood taller than a tree in my eyes, the hero of my life. Secretly, I know my dad was a genuine dog lover at heart. After Ben passed away, however, it wasn’t until my children re-created this magical love for dogs that now I can focus on loving our little Chihuahua, Toby, who inspired the site along with my daughter, “JB.” Actually, this site was her idea. When I write a post, I’ll sign it “JMH.”
Then there’s my daughter, “JB” – one of my daughters and Wonders-of-the-World – who will be writing from her perspective. Currently she’s pushing 16 years old, and is our resident “dog master.” She likes to think we’re all on her leash. Sometimes it’s true. She’s a blast, though, and has a love for dogs and what to look for in dog pet stores. It was really her idea to come home one day with a dog sweater for our Toby, and he’s glad for it. As I write this, he’s off chasing his tennis ball, JB’s tossing it. One day, she’ll write her own dog training resource, I’m sure. Somehow, JB’s been able to wrap Toby around her pinky.
Whenever witch if Toby’s not on his best behavior, writes a post, it will be signed “JB.”
Lastly is my mother-in-law, who writes like nobody’s business. She has been an animal lover for longer than she’d ever admit, and she has a genuine love and knack for dogs. She’ll research and share her priceless views on dog products and pet stores. I’ll sign her posts as “LKB.”
Here’s a healthy-dog tip:
Have you noticed that your dog doesn’t seem exactly “well” lately? Many owners, especially if they’re new to dog training and ownership, don’t know the signs of illness for their dogs until they find themselves staring at a huge vet bill. Whatever the case may be for you, when you need some information about dog health care or about insurance (yes, for your dog!), read more about dog meds and health issues on our Dog Meds Online page by clicking this link or the link in the header, far-right side. We’re including some really helpful resources you won’t find on your bookshelves and likely not in your local pet shop, with reviews soon coming on each. There are also some vendors there with discount links (and on our Dog Pet Stores We LOVE page) that you may find helpful. We encourage you to peruse these links before you spend more than you have to elsewhere, you’re sure to be saving yourself some money with the discount links (almost all offering free shipping).
Thank you for your support and checking out our recommended providers for the best dog and pet care products available. We know you’ll enjoy shopping and reading here at Dog Pet Stores, and we’ll continue to look for the best providers in dog and pet care for our readers and fellow dog-lovers.
Luxury Living for your Dog
(Written by JMH)
Let’s be honest…we love our dogs, or you wouldn’t be on my site. For some, it’s enough to throw some store-bought food into a plastic bowl, fill up a dish with some water, and go to work only to come home and let the dog in the backyard for relief. For others, that’s almost abuse! What’s the point, right?
Wherever you are on that spectrum, your dog knows about this site. Your dog’s been online, and has been to Dog Pet Stores, and can read an surf when you’re not around. For his or her sake, read on. See, what your dog would tell you if he could speak (and break sacred canine code!), is that he or she wouldn’t mind a little more of a pampering. Your dog would say, “I really don’t mind this Prada dog carrier…or the fine couch you bought just for me…”
It’s possible to give your dog that life. I won’t go so far as to say you can’t treat your dog like a dog, but for a moment just consider the fact that there are designer costumes, clothes, dog beds and luxury dog houses you can buy that your dog wouldn’t mind at all. Trust me, my dog’s let me in on the secret life of dogs. He’s been to this site, and his name’s Toby. He wants to be the Chihuahua in the top of this page – the one who’s in the doggie carrier.
There are all sorts of dog pet stores available, and we’ve linked to some of the best available. You can find all sorts of luxury and not-quite-so-luxury items, all of which your dog’s going to love you for. There are all sorts of neat things to take a look at, such as a genuine diamond-studded collar…or simply a no-bark citronella collar, take your pick! You’ll find more on that subject on our training collars for dogs page.
If you need to find a spot for your dog so he or she stays off your couch, consider buying one of the fancy dog beds on our page–you can click the pictures and shop at one of our favorite dog pet stores that sponsors our site. Why is it important to have a bed or couch for your dog? Read up on it by following the link above, or the navigation bar in the header. In a quick word, our Chihuahua inspired that page, since I keep finding him all over our house lying in our scarves, baby blankets, towels…you name it! Dogs love to cuddle up, especially here where we live and the snow’s on the ground.
There are plenty of cute, and practical dog clothes that you can buy to keep your pooch dry, warm and safe at night (with a reflective coat). It may seem sort of outlandish to actually consider buying a dog a sweater or jacket, but there’s more to that story than you may think. It goes beyond fashion, believe it or not. Gotta keep that best friend warm and dry, after all! Of course, if you want to get really creative, you can always coordinate with your dog, too, for a stylish day or night out on the town, so to speak.
If you love your dog, take it from Toby the Chihuahua, you really found a great place to do your online shopping and find some great dog pet stores that you wouldn’t otherwise have been privy to. It’s never been easier than now to simply browse for the bed, collars, meds or what have you, and be done with your shopping in no time than now. Thank you for visiting our site, and stay tuned as we continue to add to our growing blog here at Dog Pet Stores. Enjoy your stay, or shall we say, “Sit!”
